An exceptional, full-bodied and elegant red with a rich and robust flavour, firm tannins and a bold acidity.
Approx. ABV:12%
Ingredients:Concentrate [grape juice concentrate, sugar, water, yeast nutrient, diammonium phosphate, acids (citric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid), tannin, sulphite]; chitosan [water, acid (malic acid), chitosan (crustaceans), preservative (sodium metabisulphite)]; oak chips; silicone dioxide solution; stabiliser [preservatives (sodium metabisulphite, potassium sorbate)]; dried yeast [yeast, emulsifier (E491)]

Started operations just 9 weeks ago. Everything ran as it should and have already started drinking it. Both my wife and I and our daughter are seasoned drinkers of full-bodied red wines and we reckon this to be easily on a par with any £5 - 10 bottle from the supermarket, immature that it is. Must use willpower to keep some of it for an extended period since, by all accounts, it will get even better. Followed the instructions fully other than that I transferred from plastic beer barrel to bottles via the tap instead of a syphon tube. Decanted from open-head fermenter to barrel at SG 1.010 and added 4% grape juice at bottling stage (30ml per bottle).Dick Martin (22 Dec 2013, 19:04)

Undoubtedly the best wine I have ever made! Tried it out on a "wine buff" who would not believe it was home made.Dave H (11 Nov 2013, 10:24)

Manage to flabbergast our company vino expert after finding out this was made at home! Great fun!Anonymous (27 Mar 2013, 13:41)

If I'd known that wine kits could taste as good as this I'd have started winemaking sooner - and saved myself a fortune. I've only tried Beaverdale but see no reason to try any others. Ths is the best red, with Rioja coming a close second. It's soft and fruity and all-too drinkable (consumption exceeding production!) Might try a Cab Sauv next just for comparison, but I'll be making lots more of this in the future.Theleveller (2 Nov 2012, 14:02)

We have done a few kits now and this was the most expensive but it seems you get what you pay for. It took a lot longer than the other kits but I think this is a good thing. Just bottled it tonight, got 29 & a 1/2 bottle out of it so we thought we ought to dring the 1/2 bottle. So far so good, very enjoyable. Can't wait to see what it tastes like once it's aged.

Friendly, efficient service with ultrafast delivery and competitive prices. Thanks SamKenneth Morris (25 Feb 2023, 10:34)
I have been a customer for around 4 years now. I have always be satisfied with the service, delivery and quality. If I need help a human answers the phone and solves the issue. Even during the pandemic they supplied, limited stock sometimes, but notified me when back in stock. During my time the prices have gone up, where haven’t they? But the increased percentage is less than most essential good!Graham (10 May 2024, 16:31)
