Geordie Beer Kits

The wort – the liquor beer is brewed from – has already been prepared from malted barley and hops, then concentrated. You mix it with sugar and hot water, then add cold water to make up 40 pints and finally add the special brewing yeast from the sachet on the top of the can. The wort then ferments for about a week. When fermentation stops, siphon off the brew into bottles or pressure barrel, give it ten days or so to mature and your perfect pint is ready for drinking.

Worth moving up a notch?

I used to buy from the On The House (£43) range and was always very happy with them and made dozens of 30 bottle kits up. Until, that is, there was an offer on WineXpert kits at the same price rather than the normal £53. So I had nothing to lose in trying the more expensive kit. I found it was definitely worth the extra tenner (more grape juice giving more depth of flavour). So I now stick with WineXpert even at the higher price. Amazing service

I bought two wine kits and one did not have all the necessary parts, only the grape concentrate. I needed to get this started before we went on holiday, Sam chased it up immediately with the suppliers and I received the missing bits in time to start it before we went away.
