The wine making kits in our Cantina 5-day series are produced from Italian quality grape juices. Our supplies of grapes come from the northern Italian regions of Emilia and Tuscany. We prefer northern Italian grapes to the more common southern ones from Spain or south Italy. The reason is that the cooler climate tends to produce higher quality grapes, with a more clean and complex wine as the result.

With the help of a recently developed, highly specialized yeast/nutrient mix we are here able to ferment a wine in 4 days only (the 5th is used for clearing) and still retaining most of the grape qualities. During the development of this winekit we found that the using high quality grape concentrate becomes more important the faster the fermentation. For a 4-day fermentation, only a few European concentrates will work well.

5 days? if only!

Makes a very palatable good strength white wine. I would not serve it to guests, but for sipping in front of telly with slippers on it is absolutely fine and at £1.25 a bottle whats not to like. However, having purchased dozens of these kits over the years. Never have I had one ready for finnings on day four (and I use a heat pad for consistency) the best we had was 7 days. It would be interesting to know Cantinas secret to make it happen in four.Reg (23 Jan 2024, 19:24)

Lovely

This is a fantastic buy. It works out about £1.25 per bottle. I must say that it doesn't make 28 bottles. I would say more like 26 or 27 as the last bottle always has sediment in it. Also it takes much longer than 5 days. It is never ready for us to drink until about the 9th day. Apart from that it is really lovely.Christine Davies (10 Sep 2021, 18:36)

Worth moving up a notch?

I used to buy from the On The House (£43) range and was always very happy with them and made dozens of 30 bottle kits up. Until, that is, there was an offer on WineXpert kits at the same price rather than the normal £53. So I had nothing to lose in trying the more expensive kit. I found it was definitely worth the extra tenner (more grape juice giving more depth of flavour). So I now stick with WineXpert even at the higher price. Amazing service

I bought two wine kits and one did not have all the necessary parts, only the grape concentrate. I needed to get this started before we went on holiday, Sam chased it up immediately with the suppliers and I received the missing bits in time to start it before we went away.
